Poirot lives, unfortunately
No writer writing in 2013 can possibly capture the feel of a writer of the past. Apart from the inherent difficulties there is the further problem that it is impossible to get a novel published today unless it conforms to modern value systems and beliefs.
Christie fans should avoid this book for the same reason they should avoid the later episodes of the Poirot TV series. Modern "adaptations" are not so much adaptations as travesties.
Poirot should be allowed to rest peacefully in his grave, untroubled by the horrors of the 21st century.
